Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC Signs another Agreement for the Skills Development of Youth

Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC signed two agreements on 16th October 2019 with Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Resettlement of Protracted Displaced Persons, Co-operative Development and Ministry of Skills Development & Vocational Training to train 100 youths (both Male and Female) in following NVQ Level 4 and Level 3 programs.

This is the third time Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC has signed agreements for the youth development program of the Ministry coming under the Employment Linked Training Programs (ELTP) of the Sector Skills Development Program(SSDP). The SSDP is a mega initiative in the skills development sector with the support of development partners as the successor of the Technical Education Development Project (TEDP) supported by Asian Development Bank (ADB). The major objective of this programme is to build an efficient skills development system to meet the demands of local as well as foreign labor markets with the support of ADB and World Bank along with other development partners. This will also be the first time, that female candidates will be inducted into Automobile skills development courses.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Umesh Gautam, CEO Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC, and  Ms. Anuradha Illeperuma, Additional Secretary, Skills Sector Development Division of the Ministry of Skills Development & Vocational Training.
