History
Lanka Ashok Leyland was incorporated with certificate of incorporation dated 31/12/1982.
A Joint Venture promoters agreement was signed on 15/02/1983 between Lanka Leyland Ltd (A wholly owned company of Government of Sri Lanka) and Ashok Leyland Ltd India to form a joint venture named Lanka Ashok Leyland Ltd.
A Collaboration Agreement was signed between Lanka Ashok Leyland Ltd and Ashok Leyland Ltd, India on 21.03.1984 (currently valid till 2024) to carry on the business of importation of Ashok Leyland Commercial vehicles in knocked down condition or fully built, and carry on assembly operations, progressive manufacture, repair and service, body building on chassis and other developments to progressively develop ancillary industries locally.

Current Position
- The Company’s products are well received by customers.
- A full fledged workshop equipped to carry out repairs on vehicles, units, and sub units is available at Panagoda utilising genuine ‘LEYPARTS’ Spare parts.
- In house body building facility to build driver’s cabins.
- Reception area for workshop customers and new vehicle delivery.
- Dormitory to accommodate drivers & mechanics overnight.
- Mobile service vans to attend to breakdown.
- Corporate Social Responsibility activities initiative by employees with contribution from employees and projects identified by employees.
- Training facilities for customers mechanics and drivers.
- Training given in house to technicians from various technical institutions to enable them obtain permanent employment in any organization of their choice.
